Social Emotional Vision

The ACS Social Emotional Vision captures the Wellness Committee’s work. We asked ourselves a single question-

“What are the traits and qualities of a successful ACS graduate?”

Our social emotional goal is to develop kindness, compassion, empathy, tolerance and patience in all our students. We believe that every student that enters our school already possesses some degree of these traits and qualities within themselves. Our work is to share “tools” that will help students navigate emotions and social interactions, thus increasing their capacity for kindness, compassion, empathy, tolerance and patience. By teaching and applying the 12 Tools in our daily experiences, students come to share a language and a belief that they are equipped to handle the successes and challenges of life. The outside circle of the ACS Social Emotional Vision (everyone works with everyone, practice random groupings, create clear classroom agreements, develop emotional intelligence) are the practices that frame learning and interactions within every the classroom.
