Back to School Pan

Dear Families,

We have put an immense amount of thought into our plan for the return to school. Our Responsive Learning Plan prioritizes the health and safety of students and staff and healthy relationships and takes into account the most up-to-date guidance and data available. Our goal is to restore in-person learning to the greatest extent possible.
With this letter, I want to draw your attention to our decision to start with Hybrid Learning. Our Hybrid Learning approach allows K-8 students to receive in-person instruction two days a week and to participate in distance learning three days a week.
Starting the year with Hybrid Learning will allow us to more readily move to In-Person Learning while enabling us to pivot quickly if Full Distance Learning becomes necessary.
  • First day of school for students in grades 1-8: August 24th
  • First day of school for Kindergarten students: August 31st
For those families that do not feel comfortable with their child/children attending in person, we will offer full distance learning. It is your decision whether or not to send your kids to school.
Here you will see a more detailed plan that describes our approach to the school year and our rationale for starting with Hybrid Learning. We are also sharing our health and safety plan for in-person learning. Our plans will be updated as we receive more guidance and feedback. You can expect more communication from us as we get closer to the first day of school.
Please take the time to read over the attached information and to participate in a Town Hall Style meeting on Monday. Then, please complete the required survey by Wednesday, August 4th. We need this information to develop student groups, daily schedules, and instruction, and to make decisions regarding transportation.

To provide more information and to answer your questions about our learning models and the start of the school year, we will host a Town Hall meeting on Monday, August 3rd at 5:30. This will be a virtual meeting using Google Meet. The link was sent to you in an email.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. We feel fortunate to have had the time to incorporate new guidance and feedback into our plan. We also feel incredibly fortunate to have an amazing staff who have engaged in conversations and provided valuable information that has improved our response and our plans.

Please help us keep our community healthy and safe!

We are asking our teachers, students, and families to begin shrinking your circle 10 days prior to the start of school. This also means returning from any travels by August 14th. In addition, everyone in our community is asked to be vigilant in protecting yourself, your family, and your community by pledging to the 5 Commitments of Containment every day.

  1. I will maintain 6 feet of social distance.
  2. I will wash my hands often.
  3. I will cover my face in public.
  4. I will stay home when I am sick.
  5. I will get tested immediately if I have symptoms.

Please email me with any questions that you may have. Have a nice weekend.

Sam
