3-4 News

First off a HUGE thank you to all who were able to help out with last week’s El Tioga- going to Costco, prepping, serving, cleaning and helping kids in the kitchen… We couldn’t have done it without all of the help!

The homework load is light this week- just reading and practicing math facts, but we’re emphasizing students getting signatures from you to verify that they’ve done the work. We’d like their homework/signatures turned in by Friday.

We hope that you’ll be able to join us for our annual Thanksgiving El Tioga this Friday. It’s a great opportunity for our community to come together. Please let Sandra know if you plan to attend.

4th Grade will be using our free Sunlight Mountain ski passes for a Fourth Grade Ski Day on December 19, and we’ll need some adult help. Let Mike know if you’re interested in skiing with us.

We’re hoping to take what we’ve learned from our rocket prototypes and begin constructing our final rockets after Thanksgiving Break. It would be great to have some adult help in the afternoons (Any time between 1:15 and 2:45.) If you have any interest in helping out, please check with Mike.

AND WE STILL NEED 2 LITER BOTTLES!

Does this happen at your house?

How was your day?  “Fine.”     What did you do in school?  “Nothing.”

If so, here are some things you could ask about to help jog some memories:

-Ask about rocket prototypes, what design element your child is testing and what a ‘variable’ is.

-Ask you fourth grader about division with remainders (which may or may not have a thin candy coating.)

-Ask your third grader about the “Chicken Circus,” or about adding to 100. ( 36 + ? = 100)

-Ask about visiting 5-6 last week and seeing their periodic-table websites.

-Ask your third grader about the word “ghoti.”

-Ask about the Biography that they are reading.

-Ask about learning to type paragraphs.

-Ask about ‘hooks.’

As always, please check in if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Mandi and Mike
