At ACS, we believe in the power of creative expression. We also see a correlation between high quality arts education and our students’ outstanding academic achievement. We wanted to better understand the depth of arts our students are receiving across the board — in music, visual arts, theater, dance and woodshop — to get a baseline on what it takes to deliver outstanding results.
So we collected data from the 2014-15 school year on a diverse array of metrics — instructional time, participation, budget, per capita spending, programming, teacher credentials and classroom spaces, to name a few — and discovered that Aspen Community School students receive 98% more arts than their peers nationwide.
