Quote of the Week, chosen by Roxwell, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” – Aesop
The Scoop:
We started a new reading unit this week and it just so happens to be one of our favorites. Kids are now reading historical fiction books in book clubs! This unit is fabulous for so many reasons, but a couple really stick out to us. One is the time periods in history including World War II, Civil Rights, The Great Depression, The Revolutionary War, The Dustbowl and Westward Expansion. These time periods bring us characters that persevere through immense challenges and teach us empathy. This unit also helps kids uncover the layers of reading comprehension by talking about books with their club. Ask you child what their time period is and who is in their club :)
Upcoming Dates:
- 2/6 & 2/7 No School – teacher professional development day
With Gratitude:
- Thanks for coming to our big performance! Your children feel successful and empowered and that is what counts :)
Announcements:
- Please put your names on food containers and water bottles. Kids don’t always remember which containers are theirs and we hate to see them go to waste.
- Ice Rink is open. Students need to bring their own helmet and can either bring in skates or borrow a pair at school. Tuesday and Friday are hockey days, so they may want to also bring a hockey stick on those days. There will also be sticks to borrow at school. Monday and Thursday are figure skating days.
